Growing up we've seen the struggles women and girls face about their periods. Women have progressed so much in the passed years, yet the period subject remains taboo. There's countries where girls have to hide from society. Hiding away stops their world, and they grow up with the beliefs that their monthly isn't a gift, but a curse. Period negativity doesn't pertain just girls, but boys as wells. Boys grow up in a society that doesn't respect girls and their periods. They believe that comments like: "Oh she's just on her period," to "She's PMS-ing, that's why she's mad," are okay to say. After years of seeing this with our own eyes, we want to step up and make a change.
Why Do We Need Change?
Every girl knows the struggles. The struggles that come with our periods. We face this every month of our lives for 3-7 days. We're told we start “womanhood” and we must hide it. Females are given a monthly cycle, this was not asked for. It's a gift from nature. It's something natural and normal. Our periods are not something we should hide or be ashamed of. It's a huge part of us. We need to better the image of our menstrual cycles. We need to end period shaming!
